KNOW ABOUT The Mason's

IT’S TIME TO

The Mason's

Ezekiel Hawthorne, a struggling journalist, had always been drawn to the enigmatic brotherhood known as the Masons. Their secretive rituals, whispered power, and ancient symbols fascinated him. But when he stumbled upon an old manuscript hidden in the archives of the Arkham Historical Society, he realized that the Masons were more than just a fraternal organization—they were guardians of forbidden knowledge.

The manuscript spoke of a veil—a thin boundary between our world and something darker. The Masons, it seemed, had the ability to manipulate this veil, to peer into realms beyond mortal comprehension. Their rituals involved blood, sacrifice, and the invocation of eldritch entities.

Ezekiel’s obsession grew. He infiltrated their meetings, disguised as a novice seeking enlightenment. The Masons welcomed him, their eyes gleaming with secrets. They taught him the Handshake of the Void, a gesture that could open the veil. But there was a price: Ezekiel had to bring them a sacrifice.

He chose Maggie, a homeless woman who haunted the streets of Arkham. Her eyes held a madness that intrigued him. Ezekiel lured her to the Masonic lodge, promising warmth and food. But when the veiled chamber revealed itself—a cavern beneath the city—he hesitated. Maggie’s eyes widened as she glimpsed the shifting shadows.

The Masons chanted, their voices resonating with ancient power. Ezekiel raised the sacrificial knife, but Maggie’s gaze held him. She whispered, “I see the truth, journalist. The veil is not a boundary—it’s a prison. The Masons are its jailers.”

Before Ezekiel could react, Maggie lunged. The knife plunged into her chest, but she didn’t bleed. Instead, her form dissolved, merging with the shadows. The cavern trembled, and the Masons screamed. The veil tore open, revealing a cosmic void.

Ezekiel glimpsed infinite worlds—alien landscapes, monstrous beings, and forgotten gods. The Masons reached for the void, their hands disintegrating. Ezekiel understood: the Masons weren’t guardians; they were parasites, feeding off the veil’s energy.

Maggie’s voice echoed, “Close it, Ezekiel. Seal the veil.” He hesitated, torn between curiosity and fear. But Maggie’s form reappeared—a spectral guide. She whispered the Words of Binding, and Ezekiel repeated them.

The void collapsed, and the Masons vanished. Ezekiel stumbled back into the Arkham streets, the manuscript burning in his pocket. Maggie’s eyes held both madness and gratitude. “You’ve broken their hold,” she said. “But the veil is fragile. Protect it.”

Ezekiel became a watcher, patrolling the city’s hidden tunnels. He saw glimpses of otherworldly beings—tentacled horrorswhispering shadows, and star-eyed wanderers. The Masons were gone, but their legacy lingered.

And so, Ezekiel Hawthorne—the journalist turned guardian—wore the Mason’s Veil. His eyes saw what others couldn’t—the fragile threads of reality, the cosmic dance beyond. He wondered: Were the Masons once seekers of truth, corrupted by power? Or were they always puppets in a grander scheme?

As Arkham slept, Ezekiel whispered the Words of Binding, sealing the veil. But he knew: Someday, another seeker would come, drawn by curiosity or desperation. And the Mason’s Veil would await them—a doorway to wonders and terrors beyond imagination.

Note: The Mason’s Veil is a fictional creation, but who’s to say what lies beyond our reality? Perhaps the Masons guard secrets we can’t fathom.1

Let’s delve into the intriguing history of the Freemasons, a secret society that has fascinated and mystified people for centuries.

The Origins of Freemasonry

The roots of Freemasonry trace back to medieval stonemason guilds, where skilled craftsmen honed their trade. However, the vast majority of modern Freemasons are not actual stonework masters. As stonemason membership declined, the organization began accepting “speculative” or honorary members to bolster their ranks.

Freemasonry as we know it today emerged during the 18th-century Age of Enlightenment. Educated Englishmen sought organized settings to discuss philosophy, religion, and life. Various men’s groups—named after the English pubs where they met—joined forces to create the Premier Grand Lodge of England, the first of its kind. As membership expanded, so did the group’s secret rituals, ceremonies, and requirements.

Who Can Be a Freemason?

Membership requirements are relatively straightforward:

  • A Freemason must be male, recommended by other Lodge members.

  • They must believe in a “Supreme Being.”

  • Good moral character is essential.

  • Pledging to learn the ways of the fraternity and conforming to ancient customs completes the criteria.

Today, there are approximately 898,000 Freemasons in the U.S. and an estimated 6 million worldwide. Their secretive rituals persist, and their influence extends across various fields, including politics, arts, and science.

The Freemasons have inspired countless conspiracy theories, but their true history lies less in shadowy plots and more in the spirit of Enlightenment thinking. From George Washington to Mozart, their members have left an indelible mark on history, weaving a tapestry of secrecy, brotherhood, and intellectual pursuit.

So, next time you encounter a man with ink-stained fingers and eyes that hold galaxies, consider that he might walk both worlds—the mundane and the mysterious—as a Freemason.

Remember, the line between fact and fiction within this secretive society remains as enigmatic as the labyrinth they navigate.
